Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I pick you as my therapist?
Here’s the thing—maybe you shouldn’t! Essentially, it’s not just about credentials or specialties—it’s about the relationship. I often tell clients that finding the right therapist is a lot like dating, you might shuffle through a few until you find one that you connect with. Therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and genuinely connected to the person sitting across from you. If we don’t have a good rapport, it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you or with me—it just means the fit might not be right, and that’s okay!
The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful outcomes. Research consistently shows that a strong alliance—built on trust, empathy, mutual respect, and authenticity—is foundational to healing and growth. That’s why I place a lot of value on creating a space where you can be your full, unfiltered self and feel emotionally safe in doing so. I show up in the room as a real person—warm, grounded, compassionate, and human—because I believe therapy isn’t about performing or fixing. It’s about connection, collaboration, and understanding.
If we work together, my goal isn’t to tell you what to do or diagnose your every move—it’s to walk alongside you with curiosity, honesty, and support. We’ll explore the patterns in your life that feel stuck, unpack the stories you’ve been carrying, and work together to build more meaningful ways of living. But it only works if you feel that click—that sense of “I can talk to this person.” If you don’t, I’ll gladly help you find someone else who might be a better fit. Because more than anything, I want you to get the support you deserve.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I do! I am currently affiliated with an amazing private practice, Balanced Wellness, and have the ability to accept several major insurance plans. These include Tricare Prime (no referrals required for dependents), Tricare Select/Tricare East, BlueCross BlueShield, United Healthcare (UHC/UBH), and Aetna. If you’re unsure about your specific coverage or have questions about using your insurance for therapy, I’m happy to connect you with our office staff for support.
If I am not in-network with your insurance provider, you may still be able to receive partial reimbursement through out-of-network benefits. I can provide a superbill, which is a detailed receipt that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many clients successfully use this option to reduce their out-of-pocket costs. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions—we’ll work together to find the best solution for your care.
Where are you located?
I currently provide virtual therapy services only, allowing clients to access care from the comfort and privacy of their own space. Telehealth offers flexibility and convenience, making it easier to fit therapy into your life—whether you're at home, at work, or balancing a busy schedule. I see clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, and all sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform.
Do you see children?
While my practice primarily focuses on adults, I also work with children and adolescents ages 12 and older. I tailor my approach to meet the developmental needs of each client, using age-appropriate strategies to foster trust, engagement, and meaningful growth. Whether supporting a teen through anxiety, school stress, identity development, or family changes, I provide a compassionate and collaborative space where young people can feel heard, respected, and supported.
